As a Performance and simulation Engineer within Caterpillar Industrial Power Systems Division, you will be part of a cross-functional, high performing team and develop products that make our world cleaner by meeting new and existing emissions regulations. You will work with industry leading experts to solve problems and deliver high quality, compliant emissions control components and systems. You will collaborate with a global team to develop innovative solutions while strengthening your analytical skills and mastery of engineering concepts. You will contribute to the planning and delivery of projects, continually learn and stay abreast of the latest technology, and broaden your professional network.

The position is within the New Technology and Aftertreatment System team with the responsibility for the performance and project management of aftertreatment system. Projects are primarily new product development and span numerous applications. A high technical proficiency and sense of urgency is required.

What You Will Do:

+ Contribute to the identification, analysis, and resolution of needs and problems in the areas of aftertreatment performance, building a reputation as an expert.

+ Gather and understand system requirements, define component and sub-system performance specifications, evaluate technology alternatives, and select component/subsystem recipes.

+ Develop and perform simulations and data analysis, including model/tool/process development, lab & field data analysis, and design optimization.

+ Create validation plans and work with process partners to execute testing.

+ Act as key point of contact and collaboration lead for lab testing and aftertreatment-related field follow.

+ Support engine system performance test planning and execution

What you Will Have

+ A bachelor’s degree in an accredited Mechanical/Aerospace/Chemical Engineering, or related curriculum

+ Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.

+ Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems

+ Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.

+ Technical Excellence: Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.

+ Computer-Aided Design & Engineering: Knowledge of tools and techniques of Simulation Programs; ability to produce, analyze, simulate and test products.

Top Candidates will also have:

+ A Master’s degree in an accredited Mechanical/Aerospace/Chemical Engineering, or related curriculum

+ Proficiency in data analysis tools (DatK, Canape, etc.)

+ Proficiency in programming in Matlab, Simulink, and/or Python

+ Experience in commercial system simulation tools such as GT-suite or WAVE

+ Experience in optimization tools such as iSight, or Simens HEEDS

+ Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills

+ Excellent analytical and project management skills

+ Self-starter with strong technical leadership skills

+ Ability to communicate technical information effectively with team members and others in work group, as well as employees in other units, customers, and suppliers.

+ This position is located in Mossville, IL.

+ Up to 10% Travel.
