Job Description
Description Do you want to become a Senior Accountant with a Wholesale Distribution – Dur Goods firm? If you have a background in accounting, Robert Half is looking for candidates like you. In this position, you will be in charge of preparing and consolidating financial statements, analyzing and reconciling accounts, analyzing cash flow, creating budgets and forecasts, and preparing audits, as well as managing internal control maintenance and regulatory reporting. Crucial components of the role include analytical skills and an ability to handle a challenging, fast-paced work culture. This Senior Accountant role is based in Lincolnshire, Illinois with a company in the Wholesale Distribution – Dur Goods field. Excellent compensation is just part of the package. Responsibilities
- Provide monthly accounting closure procedures and deliverables, which includes journal entries, reconciliations, reports in compliance with GAAP
- Engage in various department-wide initiatives
- Commitment to continuously improve the automation of the accounting and reporting process
- Supply Balance Sheet account reconciliations
- Coordinate Ad-hoc projects as necessary
- Assist in coordinating quarterly reviews and testing with internal and external auditors
- Review financial information such as trends, performance metrics, benchmarks, etc. and present analysis in a clear manner
- Uphold company standards when working with business partners to ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies, procedures and controls; while also providing support on special requests when required
- Allocate and prepare monthly consolidated P& L and Balance Sheet flux analysis reports for management Requirements – High attention to detail
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Deep understanding of SOX
- Budget forecasting experience required
- Month end closings experience desired
- Foundational knowledge in variance analysis
- Notable analytical, quantitative and social skills
- Strong time management skills preferred
- Understanding of corporate performance management (CPM) and business intelligence systems required
- Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus
- BA/BS in Accounting, CPA credentials are preferred
- 2+ years of overall general accounting experience, ideally with Big 4 experience
- Prior work done in public accounting is desired
- Excellent verbal, written, and social communication skills
- Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges
- Efficient in ERP systems
