Target hiring range for this position will be between $16.55-$20.69 per hour. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
Job Summary:
Conducts tests & procedures.Sets up & operates equipment.Records observations & measurements & collects & compiles data in a research lab.Requires a practical understanding of a limited number of standard scientific techniques.
Specific Responsibilities:
Follows pre-defined protocols, policies, procedure, regulations, Good Clinical and Good Laboratory Practices and conducts standard and repetitive experiments and completes basic trouble-shooting techniques.
Sets-up, operates and maintains standard lab equipment.
Molecular Biology:
DNA, RNA, Protein isolation, purification, and expression
analysis, Western blotting
PCR, RT-PCR
Plasmid preparation
Cloning, mapping and sequencing of DNA
Recombinant virus production and purification
Cellular Biology:
Cell culture, cell isolation
Functional studies
Transfection
Histology:
Tissue fixation/processing: embedding, preparation of blocks and sectioning, staining
Immunohistochemistry
Microscopy
Immunology:
Flow cytometry
ELISA, dotblot assay
Cytokine assay
Antibody production and purification
Animal:
Husbandry
Breeding and screening transgenic and knocking/knockout mice
Perfusions
Dissections
Blood collection
Surgical procedures
Database management of colony
Other (please specify):
Records test results and may maintain databases, including preparing charts, graphs, and other presentation materials or for publications
Completes standard and routine clerical duties such as copying, filing, data entry, word processing, etc.
Maintains inventory of reagents, mice and lab supplies
Order supplies
Completes other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications: (Education, experience, and any other certifications or clearances)
HS diploma and some basic science courses are required.
Minimum Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities.)
Working knowledge of computers and software (Microsoft Word, Excel), basic statistics, ability to work independently; strong organizational skills and multitasking will be required,
Preferred Qualifications: (Education and experience)
Bachelor's degree in Biology or related field
Previous experience working in a research lab setting is essential
