Direct Support Professional (DSP)

Job Description

The DSP reports to and works in collaboration with QIDP and Nursing Staff. They will be responsible for the day-to-day direct care and enhancement of independent living skills of the residents in the CILA home. This includes bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, laundry, meal preparation, housekeeping, transporting, providing medical interventions (as directed by training regulation), vehicle/transportation, health, and safety of the individuals, participate in social and recreational needs with the individuals. They are responsible for completing many of the implementations outlined within the individual’s Personal Plan, including appropriate documentation of such. The DSP will assure that the home is safe and clean during their shifts (according to cleaning/task schedule). They will assist in meal preparation, clean up, and activity planning/participation, as well as community outings with residents. The DSP’s have a certain amount of record-keeping they are responsible for.
