Description:

The Program Director, continuing professional development (CPD) is responsible for oversight of continuing education programs (aka continuing medical education) at the three campuses of the College of Medicine (Chicago, Peoria, and Rockford). The director reports to and will work with the senior associate dean for educational affairs to enhance and expand the college's services to faculty, alumni, and - as the state's flagship public medical school - all physicians practicing within the State of Illinois. The director is also responsible for ensuring compliance with the standards of the Accreditation Council on Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to maintain UIC's credentials as a CME provider.

Within the College of Medicine, the initiative is housed within the Office of Educational Affairs, and in close collaboration with both the Office of Medical Advancement and the Department of Medical Education.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Provides visionary leadership for the enhancement and expansion of the college's continuing education activities, reporting to the senior associate dean for educational affairs.
Supervises the CPD staff for the Chicago campus, and works closely with the staff at Peoria and Rockford, to develop and implement strategies for growth in the college's continuing education programming.
Serves ex-officio and provides administrative oversight of the College Committee on Continuing Medical Education, working closely with the committee chair.
Actively communicates with the college's clinical affiliates across the state with regard to their institutional needs in continuing education, as well as other potential avenues for connectivity and relationship building with the college.
Collaborates with the college's director of communications to ensure that the college has a visible and dynamic web presence for all physicians throughout the state, including COM alumni.
Collaborates with COM Alumni Relations and Advancement to assess the needs of our alumni (including former residents and fellows, as well as MD alumni), and in communications with them.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

Bachelor's degree.
