Traffic Enforcement Technician

This position is open to the general public and to all current city employees covered under the terms of the City’s collective bargaining agreement with the Laborer’s LOCAL 1092 – BARGAINING UNIT 53.

Under supervision, participates in the City’s Automated Speed Enforcement program verifying speed enforcement incidents, and performs related duties as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
· Reviews photographic and video evidence captured by automated enforcement camera equipment to validate Municipal Code violations.
· Reviews photographic evidence and event data, associated with potential parking, red light, and speed violations captured by automated enforcement cameras.
· Applies criteria as defined by the City of Chicago Municipal Code and accepts or rejects incidents as violations.
· Enters license plate numbers and related data into a personal computer (PC) to document such facts as vehicle, location, or time of day.
· May retrieve and record requested photo images, as required.
· Prepares daily activity reports.

Days: Monday through Friday
Hours: 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM
THIS POSITION IS IN THE CAREER SERVICE
Qualifications:
Two years of work experience in operating personal computer equipment and using standard personal computer software packages.
NOTE: MUST COMPLETE 40 HOURS OF TRAINING FOR CERTIFICATION
Preference will be given to candidates possessing the following:
· Previous data entry experience
· Proficiency using Microsoft Excel
SELECTION REQUIREMENTS
This position requires applicants to successfully pass a skills assessment test. Test results will be sent out by the Department of Human Resources after test results have been analyzed and compiled. Bidders who receive a passing score on the test will be hired in seniority order . External applicants who receive a passing score will be hired in lottery/random order.
