What You'll Do:
Promote Safety. Take an active role in prioritizing safety throughout the operation for yourself and others at all times in accordance with MSHA and Vulcan standards.
Diagnose, Repair, Maintain and Inspect Mobile Equipment
Research, analyze and correct equipment malfunctions.
Make decisions on actions to take to resolve problems.
Participate in manufacturer and internal training classes.
Resolve technical and repetitive problems.
Capable of in-depth electrical, hydraulic and power train related troubleshooting using prescribed tools, guidelines and proper documentation.
Train others on parts reusability guidelines.
Handle and Move Objects. Handle, install, position, and move parts, materials, and industrial hand tools in a safe manner throughout the shop and plant.
Document and Record Information. Ensure correct and accurate documentation is completed on a daily and monthly basis regarding all mobile equipment. Enter and maintain service reports for all the mobile equipment in written or electronic form.
Operate Equipment.
Assist in driving heavy equipment and vehicles throughout the plant when necessary in order to ensure production continues in an efficient manner.
Maintain company supplied tooling and equipment, including a company provided service vehicle.
Perform General Physical Activities. Perform physical activities that require moving your whole body and considerable use of your arms and legs, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.
Additional Responsibilities. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Skills You'll Need:
Skills
Self-starter and able to work independently
Strong communication & interpersonal skills
Leadership skills
Willingness to train apprentices and journeymen
Valid CDL required; ability to travel to various locations in Illinois
Experience
Minimum 10 years' experience in the shop/field or equivalent previous employer Equivalency is subject to a written acceptance by management. (qualifications listed and presented)
High School Diploma or equivalent, formal technical trades program certification
Knowledge
Strong troubleshooting and failure analysis skills
Must comprehend computer-based programs (SIS, ET, MyKomatsu, ProSis, etc.)
Keep current with industry standards
Proven Completion of Cat Certified Field Service Technician DPC assessment tests:
Power-train and Engine DPC Skill Gap Analysis /System Certification
Electrical/ Electronics DPC Skill Gap Analysis /System Certification
Hydraulics DPC Skill Gap Analysis /System Certification
*A 70% score or better is needed to comply with this requirement

Flexibility
Must be willing to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands
Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises

Additional Responsibilities.
Assist others in using failure analysis
Provide feedback internally to drive change sufficient to meet company demands
Help train and mentor apprentices and journeymen mechanics
Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction, with excellent work ethic, neat appearance and good communication skills
Use safe working practices in conjunction with all company safety policies and training.
Must maintain a Class "B" CDL
