Overview:
The Safety Coordinator position at Chestnut is a pivotal role responsible for implementing and overseeing safety protocols to ensure the well-being of both staff and clients. In this role, you will play a vital part in fostering a culture of safety throughout the organization, ensuring compliance with regulations, and conducting thorough facility reviews.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Implement and document comprehensive safety systems covering incident reporting, environment of care monitoring, infection control practices, and emergency preparedness/response.
- Foster a culture of safety by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating relevant processes in collaboration with leadership.
- Provide input on safety and risk management policies and procedures, ensuring their review and maintenance.
- Develop and execute a safety work plan and reporting calendar, leading safety-related committees and producing critical reports.
- Ensure compliance with external safety and risk management standards and regulations, serving as an internal subject matter expert and consultant.
- Conduct on-site facility reviews, participate in accreditation visits, and maintain required licenses and certifications.
- Oversee compliance with CLIA waived testing requirements and serve as Chestnut’s food sanitation manager.
- Act as a liaison with community partners on safety and emergency preparedness matters.
- Hire, train, and supervise Quality Improvement Clerks, providing regular briefings to supervisors on pertinent safety issues.
- Promote the organization's recovery values and culture of customer service excellence while maintaining confidentiality.
