Position Overview
The Operations Principal Business & Data Analyst is responsible for leading the process improvement initiatives within Bank Operations (Deposit Operations, Loan Operations, Card Services, Treasury Management Operations and Electronic Payments). These responsibilities include implementing pre-developed strategic initiatives for improved efficiency and productivity. Oversee process improvement initiatives, identifying, analyzing and improving existing business processes so the Operations areas can successfully integrate processes and systems from mergers and acquisitions. Technical writer for business requirements, procedures, process mapping and conversion expert between line of business, information technology and vendors.
This role reports directly to the SVP, Director of Operations and interfaces regularly with business analysts within Loan Operations, Operations managers, IT team, and the Project Management Office. This is a principal position with a high-level of independence and autonomy; while the role does not currently include direct people management, the incumbent will have significant influence, dotted line relationships and the opportunity for direct people management.
Essential Job Functions
Drive the identification of technical requirements across business unit and identify substandard systems processes through evaluation of real-time data.
Serve as thought leader for technical business processes, prototypes that promote increased efficiency and productivity on multiple levels
Perform, evaluate, and communicate thorough quality assurance at every stage of systems development
Determine and develop user requirements for systems in production and prior to on-boarding new systems to ensure maximum usability.
Document and process-map business functions; gathering information; evaluating output requirements and formats.
Define project requirements by identifying project milestones, phases and elements associated with completion.
Monitor progress by tracking activity; resolving problems; publishing progress reports; recommending actions steps.
Maintain user confidence and protect operations by keeping information confidential
Prepare technical reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends
Validate resource requirements and develop cost estimations.
Understand and communicate the operational impact of any changes to business partners.
Suggest changes to Operations Management using analytics to support recommendations.
Actively participate in the implementation of approved changes
Create informative, actionable and repeatable reporting that highlights relevant business trends and opportunities for improvement
Standardize testing methodology and testing template for all system releases/upgrades utilized in the Operations areas.
Utilize documented processes as resource for advanced workflow solution redesign.
Perform detailed analysis of workflow, key steps, blockages, excessive redundancy and missing steps.
Document business requirements for system related solutions.
Maintain Operational KPI/KRI data and partner with Operational leaders to complete various dashboard reporting.
Minimum Requirements - All levels
Bachelor's Degree in appropriate field of study and five or more years of experience in project management, business intelligence and/or business/data analysis within financial services; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
