Leak Repair Technician

Job Description

- Work in shop and also travel out to industrial and manufacturing facilities including (chemical, nuclear power plants, oil refineries, etc.) with a Lead Technician to inspect, evaluate, and repair leaks on piping and other equipment

- Taking geometric measurements of leaking pipes, flanges, and valves to prepare for installation of leak sealing engineered clamp

- Transferring measurements to computer program to send to engineering department

- Working with engineering department during fabrication of clamp

- Installing clamp over leaking equipment and injecting with injectable sealant using specialty tools

- Drilling and tapping metal for injection into leaking valve packing glands

- Working with hazardous chemicals, pressures, and temperatures ranging from 30°F to 1000°F Using supplied breathing air when working with chemicals with an inhalation hazard

- Working from heights such as towers and scaffolds

- Lifting tools and leak sealing devices up to 100lbs up scaffolds and towers using rope

- Speaking to and providing knowledge to plant contacts, engineers, and operators

- Utilize an iPad to enter and document work orders

- Will be covering Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin, Missouri, Michigan, Minnesota and South Dakota

- Technicians will usually be home at night the same day roughly 75-80% of the year but will also stay over a couple days if needed until job is complete

- If overnight stay is needed, the company will pay for all your expenses (hotels/expenses/transportation/food, etc.)

- Lead technicians will be provided a company vehicle and assistant technicians will be partnered up with a Lead Tech (once fully certified which takes about 6 months)

- Lead technicians will be traveling along with 1-2 assistant technicians

- Pay can start anywhere from $23-25/hr for assistant technicians

- Regular hours: 7:30am-4pm= Normal pay, 4pm-12am= 1.5x, 12am-7:30am= 2x, must be available for OT and weekend work when needed
