JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Will primarily focus on onboard autonomy program, spending large parts of the day riding in autonomy surrogate vehicles (SUV & pickup trucks) performing system testing.
* Will conduct basic safety tests and then conduct tests on new features and/or issue fixes.
* Develops, tests, and troubleshoots autonomy software systems used for autonomous machines.
* Onboards system validation work that integrates with current machine systems and includes the autonomy sub system areas of Planning, Perception and Positioning technologies, as well as
infrastructure areas supporting development of these sub-systems (calibration, simulation, analytics, machine learning development pipelines).
* Creating and/or Updating test and development plans for autonomous haul truck testing
* Executing testing on autonomous trucks
* Analyzing test data
* Troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, or software issues for autonomous haul trucks
* Thoroughly documenting and communicating issues found during testing
* Writing test reports and giving recommendations based on testing experience
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
*Bachelor"s in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
* 8 years of Testing and validation experience, ideally with complex systems (Vehicle or heavy equipment)
* Drivers license in good standing
* Must be comfortable operating SUV/pickup size vehicles
* Experience with CAN protocols
* In vehicle validation experience
* Experience with Linux Operating System
* Experience creating and executing test cases
* Experience discovering and documenting system and software issues
* Strong communication and technical writing skills.
* Must have the ability to communicate clearly with other test engineers and leads at the BB test track.
* Strong technical writing skills are critical - for the creation of test cases, updates to test cases, and for documenting discovered issues
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* Experience with Ethernet protocols
* Experience with Autonomous systems; including high precision positioning (GPS/IMU), perception (Radar/LIDAR), and path planning
* Vehicle Control systems experience -
* Experience with steering, braking and acceleration
