Senior Cloud Engineer

Location: This position will work a hybrid schedule (remote & office). The ideal candidate will live within 50 miles of one of our Elevance Health PulsePoint locations.

Preferred Locations: Atlanta, GA; Chicago, IL; Grand Prairie, TX.

The Senior Cloud Engineer is responsible for delivery of end to end application, system development and maintenance on complex multi technology platforms within assigned client group, business unit or corporate department and utilizing various customer technology platforms.

How You Will Make An Impact :

+ Infrastructure as Code (IaC) Terraform modules development and automation with Python and other languages.

+ Develop Java applications & services and dependencies to design for Cloud migration with disaster recovery (DR).

+ Create automated Docker images (Windows and Linux) deployment using Helm charts.

+ Update CI/CD pipelines and/or create new pipelines as necessary for cloud migration.

+ Implement improvements in stability, performance, and scalability across major business-critical systems.

+ Refactors configuration and caching of applications to leverage cloud and cloud native architecture.

+ Create technical design for complex problems and perform reviews and code reviews

+ Participate in Agile team planning, demos, backlog refinement, and standups.

+ Ensures user stories acceptance criteria/definition are met.

+ Owns the change request process and may coordinate with other teams as necessary.

+ Provides technical advice and weighs in on technical decisions that impact cross functional teams.

+ Develops and defines application scope and objectives and prepares technical and/or functional specifications from with programs will be written.

+ Performs technical design reviews and code reviews.

+ May own technical testing to ensures unit test is completed and meets the test plan requirements, system testing is completed and system is implemented according to plan.

+ Maintains technical development environment.

+ Mentors others and may lead multiple or small to medium sized projects.

+ Provides technical guidance, and mentoring.

+ Understands the tradeoffs between technical, analytical and product needs of the technical solutions.

+ Identifies and propose strategies around technical problems affecting team, communicates standards and gets buy-in on solutions.

+ Facilitates group sessions to elicit complex information on requirements clarification, design sessions, code reviews and troubleshooting issues.

Minimum Requirements:

+ Requires an BA/BS degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field of study and a minimum of 5 years related experience; multi dimensional platform experience; expert level experience with business and technical applications, or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities & Experiences:

+ 5 years’ of hands-on experience with multiple Infrastructure As Code scripting tools like Terraform, Packer, Ansible, Python, PowerShell, and Shell are preferred.

+ 1-3 years’ of experience migrating solutions from on Prem to Cloud re-host and re-platform is preferred.

+ Experience working with various design patterns and building with component architecture for re-architecture is a plus.

+ Experience with cloud stack development in AWS/Google is a plus.

+ Experience with Redhat OpenShift Container Platform (OCP), EKS or other Kubernetes based container services and related automation is preferred.

+ Strong understanding and experience of CI/CD process is a plus.

+ Working knowledge of Helm charts for on prem as well as on cloud deployment is a plus.

+ Good knowledge of cloud migration with robust security management and application monitoring process is a plus.

+ Working knowledge of cloud networking, load balancing, identity policy management and firewalls is a plus.

+ Working with Elastic Elk stack, Grafana dashboards and Prometheus is a plus.

+ Understanding of Service Mesh Istio and other tools like Jaegar and Kiali, is a plus

+ Experience with programming languages Java, ASP .Net and C#, is preferred.

+ Working knowledge with databases like MongoDB, Redis, Oracle, etc. is a plus.

+ AWS certifications are a plus.
