Position Summary
The Department of Surgery, Dr. Basabi Rana's Lab at the University of Illinois at Chicago is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate. This position requires a Ph.D. in Cancer Biology (or a related field) with related scientific training.

In addition, other essential skills will include elucidating at a molecular level the role of various novel upstream signaling molecules regulating growth, apoptosis, and survival in cancer cells, with particular focus on hepatocellular carcinoma and other gastrointestinal cancers. The detailed mechanism by which these molecules interact with each other to mediate cancer progression and therapy-resistance and how these pathways are activated will also be studied.

Duties & Responsibilities

Design effective combination therapies to combat drug-resistance and advanced cancer progression.
Utilize state-of-the-art molecular, cell biology and biochemical work in tissue culture models (in vitro) as well as in animal models (in vivo), and will require thoughtful, independent experimental design.
Participate in regular data analysis, scientific manuscript writing, scientific data presentations, journal club presentations including grant application and relevant literature readings will also be required.
Willing to work hard with extreme sincerity.
Develop scientific interactions thus contributing significantly to our project(s) while maintaining a high level of productivity.
Perform other project related duties as assigned.
