Responsibilities:
Responsible for building, configuring, and evolving PEAK6’s highly available, highly-flexible, high bandwidth, and low latency networks across PEAK6’s global offices and data centers. Collaborate with the Network Team and other engineers to continue evolving and optimizing PEAK6’s network design and system architecture. Stay informed of any evolving technologies in the industry to support the Network Team in making decisions on how to best make use of these advancements. Manage the day-to-day administration of PEAK6’s production trading network infrastructure. Monitor the performance of the production trading network to ensure all systems are running smoothly and efficiently. Manage a variety of network devices, including routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, web proxies, VoIP phone systems, and various network appliances. Monitor network performance to ensure optimum performance and reliability. Implement a variety of Layer 2 (Ethernet, Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP), Frame Relay, VLANs, Spanning Tree Protocol (STP), Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP), Virtual Private LAN Service (VPLS), Quality of Service (QoS) and Layer 3 (IP routing protocols such as RIP, OSPF, BGP, and EIGRP, Multicast routing protocols such as PIM-SM, PIM-DM, and MSDP, MPLS, Network Address Translation (NAT), IPv6 transition technologies such as 6to4 tunneling and ISATAP tunneling) network protocols and technologies. Design and implement best-practice network solutions to meet business requirements. Involved in network monitoring and configuration management. Perform network troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose network problems and upgrade network hardware and software.

Educ./experience:  
Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, plus two (2) years of post-baccalaureate experience as a Network Operations Engineer, Technical Support Engineer, or related role. Experience must include network device management; network troubleshooting and maintenance; Python; Ansible; Linux; BGP; OSPF; and Multicast communication.
