Job Summary

This position requires a self-motivated “hands on” engineer with the ability to identify and solve practical manufacturing process problems on the shop floor. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills and will require you to work closely with the manufacturing, quality, and engineering teams to provide technical support & problem solving of assembly & test issues on the manufacturing floor. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, with a desire to “roll up their sleeves” to help the team get the job done. In this role you will be responsible for reviewing, analyzing & optimizing existing manufacturing processes to increase efficiency using lean manufacturing methods and assisting in the design of products to develop “Design for Manufacturing” parts and processes.

You will be required to interpret engineering drawing packages and sales write-ups to assemble and test products in accordance with customer and quality requirements. You will assist the Operations Manager to plan necessary manpower and equipment to complete production and testing functions efficiently, effectively, and in accordance with production schedules.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

- Provide technical support to shop floor

- Liaison between shop floor & engineering

- Participate in engineering design reviews to assist with design for manufacturability

- Identify and implement improvements to manufacturing and testing processes and equipment

- Lead process improvement projects

- Maintain and assist in the development of process measures

- Communicate project status with Operations Manager

- Identify, develop, and conduct training for Operations team

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

+ Experience working in large equipment assembly manufacturing environment

+ 2+ years as a manufacturing engineer, industrial engineer, process engineer, similar role

+ experience reading blueprints/schematics

+ some CAD experience

+ Bachelor degree in engineering strongly preferred

any electrical knowledge is nice to have
