The Maintenance System Technician maintains equipment and facilities to operate in the safest and most productive electro-mechanical condition, implements continual improvement, is a resource to support new system installations, and shares his/her knowledge with the rest of the organization.
What are we looking for?
- Two years of college or equivalent in the maintenance-related area plus five years of industrial maintenance experience, required.
- Broad overall knowledge of plant flow, operation, and utilities
Good theoretical knowledge of and ability to troubleshoot low and high voltage - D.C., low and high voltage - single and 3 phase A.C. circuits, and all related equipment both power and logic - Ability to engineer small projects in all fields of maintenance
- Good theoretical knowledge and ability to troubleshoot mechanical systems and equipment and hydraulic, pneumatic, and vacuum systems
- Ability to design and fabricate using materials such as sheet and structural metals both ferrous and non-ferrous, plastics, etc
- Basic ability to operate machine tools
- Skills in pipe fitting, plumbing, HVAC, boiler and utilities operation and maintenance
- Knowledge of machine design and strengths of materials
- Knowledge and skills in safe rigging techniques
- Good operating skills in equipment such as fork trucks, personnel lifts, etc.
- Excellent knowledge of hand tool application, operation, and repair
- Good knowledge of GMPs and clean design methods
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment with a positive attitude and minimal supervision.
- Ability to work long hours (including 12-hour rotating shifts) under stressful conditions such as heat, cold, high, and /or confined spaces and have full mobility with the ability to climb ladders and stairs and do repetitive bending and twisting
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to train other associates
What will be your key responsibilities?
- Analyze the condition of, troubleshoot failures of, repair, and perform preventative/predictive maintenance on production equipment (packaging and processing), building and utilities, and all associated equipment.
- Initiate, engineer, plan, and coordinate work performed by other associates, contractors, and/or self.
- Prioritize and manage work in his/her area by working with the Lead and Planner/Scheduler.
- Will actively address food safety and quality concerns.
- Institute and carry out incremental improvements in time-saving, cost-saving, and safety areas.
- Support DOM/JTM along with Shift Technicians and after-hours calls.
- Maintain specialty parts inventory
- Interact with other associates to improve systems and methods.
- Source new and improved equipment, parts, services, and methods.
- Participate in action circles and focus groups as appropriate.
- Contract with outside services as needed.
- Other similar duties as assigned.
- Working with Lead and Planner/Scheduler is a must to ensure work orders are planned and executed promptly.
