Sr. Director, Design, Card Platforms & Data
The Sr. Director of Design will be accountable for our Card Platforms & Data team. This role will be partner with our business teams representing Card Platforms & Services as well as our Card Data, Models, and Credit.
As Sr. Director of Design you will also operate as a strategic leader at the intersection of business and associate experiences to uncover and define compelling design solutions that impact enable our Card Platforms and Data agenda. And you'll do it all in a collaborative environment that encourages you to build relationships, take on new responsibility, and promote continuous learning with a team of design strategists, service designers, product designers, and researchers.

What You'll Do:
Manage a portfolio of large scale, platform and data design engagements supporting our associate experiences
Build and lead a dedicated team of designers to support high priority projects for the organization
Manage and coach high potential associates, including actively crafting a vision for their roles and their success
Provide thought leadership for your team and business partners by connect dots across our teams and developing strategic projects, customer insights, and product design solutions
Devise organizational structures that optimally leverage internal expertise and organizational needs to maximize design impact
Craft compelling stories grounded in rigorous insights and analysis to influence senior and executive partners across the company
Lead designers and non-designers on cross-functional project teams to understand and apply research findings by framing problems, defining insights, and designing new methodologies/ practices to serve customer needs
Manage internal executive stakeholder and partner relationships
Embrace and advocate an experience mindset with our teams and partners - this is as important to the work as the results
Effectively work with partners and teams across various geographies
Our ideal candidate will have the following:
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in business case development in whitespace thinking - communicating analysis, customer trends, opportunity, and business impact grounded in customer experience and insights
Experience in leading a portfolio of work bringing emerging opportunities to market
Experience in leading strategic and horizontal teams within a product design space
Exceptional people management and development skills
Exceptional workshop and meeting facilitation skills
Fantastic interpersonal skills, with experience influencing senior decision making
Experience with working in design innovation environments
Experience designing for large scale enterprise data, platform, and internal-facing experiences
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or military experience
At least 12+ years professional experience in experience design
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree or advanced Degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Design, or Behavioral Science
8+ years experience in a people leadership role leading Design Strategy or Product Design
Experience with leading design for enterprise data platforms

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
New York City (Hybrid On-Site): $272,600 - $311,200 for Sr. Director, Design
