After recently onboarded a new client with some project based work that will carry through the 2024 year and potentially beyond Actalent is looking to add headcount. This will be a role that provides a unique blend of academic research with manufacturing applications. They will work as a Quality Control Technician, responsible for basic wet chem, Ph testing, prepping samples for HPLC (and will be trained on operation of HPLC), as well as weighing samples using balance to find solids vs liquids volume. Work with all IN PROCESS products. The lab is situated separately from the plant, but the role will allow them the unique opportunity to interact with academics, sr scientists, operators in the pilot plant, and engineers. Responsible for basic data entry and reporting, adhering to SOPs and identifying anything out of spec. The operators will bring the technicians samples, so they will spend very minimal time in the pilot plant itself. Responsible for communicating with operators when samples are out of spec, and any customer questions as they walk through (occasional). This is industrial like quality control/quality assurance- again no finished products but just making sure they adhere to SOPs; This is a pilot facility for a new client so very exciting. Will work with biopolymers and renewable engery sources in short (proprietary info but will learn more if hired about particular client)
Individuals in this position are required to:
- Assist in research and client services
- Assist in quality control for analytical laboratory services
These positions will be responsible for performing analytical assays and tests associated with grant-funded or contractual project; will assist in specific chemical testing on various substances and record such data in preparation of scientific reports and will follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) of sample collection, storage and archiving; will work closely with private sector clients to maintain specified research protocols within an environment of strict business confidentiality.
Employees at this level are responsible for assisting in research and client services. Individuals in this position assist in performing quality-control testing, report and interpret data, troubleshoot various scientific instruments and ensure all standard regulations and lab safety regulations are followed correctly.
Some exposure to corrosive chemicals – safety training and PPE is provided.
Some physical work is required to assist in maintenance repair of equipment and assist tradesmen in electrical, mechanical, process instrumentation work. Some shift work and weekend coverage is required.
