Division Intercollegiate Athletics

Job Summary
Facilitate and assist with all on-campus recruiting activities of student-athletes in the Fighting Illini Football program.

Additional Physical Demands
Willingness to work night and weekend hours required. Holidays when needed. Have the ability to travel as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: • Required: Bachelor's degree in Sports Administration, Communication, or closely related field Experience: • Required: At least one year of experience working with a collegiate or professional football program, either as player or personnel

Preferred Qualifications

Prior football administrative recruiting experience preferred

  • Maintain knowledge of, and compliance with, specific NCAA, Big Ten Conference, and institution rules that relate to this position is required.

The Division of Intercollegiate Athletics (DIA) invites applications for Assistant Coach, Assistant Director of Personnel to support football recruiting operations. In addition, the Assistant Coach, Assistant Director of Personnel will play a critical role in supporting the broader strategic priorities of the DIA, and ultimately this position will help foster a life-changing experience for student-athletes.

Since 1892, DIA has operated on the campus of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to support its intercollegiate athletic programs. Today, DIA supports 21 intercollegiate varsity sports which compete as a part of the Big Ten Conference and the National Collegiate Athletic Association. DIA provides the resources for over 500 student-athletes to participate at the highest levels of their respective sports. This extensive support ecosystem includes over 35 departments employing over 300 dedicated staff members including 80 plus varsity coaches working collaboratively to provide individualized championship-caliber opportunities to our student-athletes, in the classroom, in the competitive arena, and in personal and professional development, to enhance their growth and life preparation. The DIA mission is to Unify, Develop, Inspire, and Achieve, for the benefit of our student-athletes, our university, and our broader community.

Organizational Relationship
This position will report to the Executive Director of Personnel and Recruiting.

Impact in Your First Year
Within 3 months, you will:


Arrive on campus, build rapport with staff and current student athletes. Get a feel for how our recruiting department works, help make an impact on recruits when they are on campus.

Within 6 months, you will:

Would like to see this position begin to influence our overall recruiting approach. After spending time in our department the employee should have a feel for our expectations and overall team culture. Would like them to add communication and strategy measures that take us to the next level in recruiting.

By the end of the first year, you will:

College athletics is changing everyday, our recruiting department needs to change and adjust to the current trends. This position will play a major role in advancing our strategies and keeping us on the cutting edge with our overall approach. By the time this employee has been here a year would like to see them fully engaged with the coaches, current student athletes, and PSA's. At this point they should have a full understanding of the expectations of the Head Football Coach and start to work ahead on future recruiting classes.

Appointment Information

This is a 100% full-time Academic Professional position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 4/9/2024. Salary is commensurate with experience.
