The person in this position will be responsible for teaching American Heart Association(AHA) based courses within Illinois correctional facilities to IDOC staff members as stipulated by the agreement in place with Lake Land College and the IDOC during the employment period. Employee will work autonomously with IDOC correctional facility training staff members to schedule and provide training. Employees are expected to complete all college-generated and/or AHA paperwork associated with the course being taught.
 Description of Essential Functions (critical tasks)
Essential Job Functions:

The IDOC Regional Instructor Trainer and Coordinator will provide AHA approved CPR instruction during their employment as provided for under the agreement in place between Lake Land College and the IDOC. Employees must have current AHA instructor-level certification in either basic CPR first aid and AED (At the time of writing called "Heart Saver"); or health care provider CPR first aid and AED (At the time of writing called "BLS Provider").Instructors are expected to maintain said certification and any updates required todo so at their own expense.
The IDOC Regional Instructor Trainer and Coordinator is responsible for the issuance of all applicable cards and materials for IDOC employees covered under the current contract, for maintaining compliance for all instructors registered under the umbrella of the IDOC Regional Instructor Trainer and Coordinator, and for auditing materials at IDOC CPR sites when the IDOC Regional Instructor Trainer and Coordinator are at site visits.
The IDOC Regional Instructor Trainer and Coordinator is responsible for the development of all classroom materials for both initial and recertification training.
The IDOC Regional Instructor Trainer and Coordinator may act as a liaison between IDOC staff and Lake Land College staff in regards to scheduling courses and site visits and will be available to answer questions of IDOC staff and/or Lake Land College staff as needed.
The IDOC Regional Instructor Trainer and Coordinator may act as an advisor to Lake Land College and IDOC staff in regards to updated AHA guidelines, training materials, or process changes and may, with supervisory approval, order materials as necessary.
 Specific Functional Job Requirements
Education Requirements:

Must have current instructor certification in AHA basic or healthcare provider CPR, first aid, and AED training. If instructing healthcare-level or instructor level courses, instructor must be willing to align with Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Care Center.
Experience Requirements:

Prefer two years' experience instructor AHA CPR courses, and/or background in medical field related occupation, such as Emergency Medical Technician, Nursing.
Knowledge:

Understanding of importance and relevance of CPR in workplace setting.
Skills:

Have high degree of organizational ability and be detail oriented. Possess a current valid Driver's License.
Personal Requirements:

Must be able to pass IDOC background check. Able to work with and communicate effectively with students. Must be able to coordinate training with IDOC personnel via phone or email. Must be willing to work within correctional facility setting. Must be able to drive and have reliable transportation method, or secure alternative mode of transport.
