UI Health is seeking an Office Support Specialist to join our Health Social Work team. Under direct supervision of an administrative director in support of a major academic or administrative unit. Employees at this level perform a variety of essential tasks related to the administration and supervision of departmental work functions and assist in carrying out the administrative functions of a unit or department. The duties performed require extensive knowledge of the organization, programs, policies, and procedures of the institution. A progression of responsibility is evident in this series and ranges from simple, routine and repetitive duties performed to duties that are complex and highly diversified requiring the exercise of discretion and independent judgment performed under administrative direction.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Develops and implements procedures and recordkeeping systems to support the clerical functions performed by the unit.
Serves as a resource person for staff and external units.
Answers inquiries and resolves problems which require interpretation, and justification or administrative and programmatic policies and procedures.
Directs and coordinates all clerical functions of a unit with full accountability for the results produced.
Assists in communication and monitoring of fiscal transactions and keeps management informed of overall financial position. Prepares reports.
Signs/approves correspondence, requisitions, vouchers and similar documents.
Backup with Payroll transactions/adjustments when needed.
Complete Transportation requests.
Assist vendors, social workers, medical professionals and patients with securing information regarding referrals, placement, and other processes to facilitate patient care.
Handle cash/checks, vouchers for transportation and meals, patient clothing, other items that require secured management.
Oversees coordination of outside transportation for patients from the Medical campus.
Provides assistance to patients and guests with information, screening, etc.
Assists in Main office coverage of greeting guests and answering the phones
Reviews/assigns referrals
Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Required:


High school diploma or equivalent.
Any one or combination totaling two (2) years (24 months) from the categories below:
A. College coursework in any curriculum, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:

30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
Associate's Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months)
90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)
