A Supplier Development Engineer provides high level guidance, training and development of new suppliers selected by the global commodity groups. In addition, supplier development engineering is the owner of the sourcing quality system. As such, SDEs manage and improve the quality systems with sourcing as well as provide mentoring and training to the supplier quality engineering group.

What you will be doing...

Lead Global Sourcing supplier assessment process activities to evaluate whether a potential new supplier meets Woodward requirements.

Work with commodity teams to identify supplier capability / capacity / system gaps determined through supplier assessment activities.

Collaborate with commodity teams and suppliers as needed to create supplier development plans to mitigate risks associated with supplier capability / system gaps.

Provide project management regarding the implementation of development plans with key suppliers to support commodity strategies.

Coordinate with commodity teams to evaluate overall commodity supplier performance to identify and drive supplier performance improvement opportunities.

Lead commodity-specific supplier improvement projects.

Serve as quality systems and supplier development escalation point of contact within commodity teams.

Assess and direct improvement activities within supply base in the areas of Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing.

Mentor and guide SQE's, SDE's, and CQE's concerning complex problems and training needs.

Project manage and lead SDN (Supplier Development Network) activities to drive QDRC (quality, delivery, responsiveness, and cost) improvements for the mutual benefit of Woodward and the supplier.

What We Are Looking For...

4 year degree in technical field or5-7 years of quality, manufacturing, or process control experience required.

5-7years previous quality engineering experience

Green belt required or completion within 180 days.

Black belt certification preferred

Role is remote, travel is around 50%
