Description
The Undergraduate Intern, reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.
The Northwestern Medicine Information Services Summer Internship presents a valuable opportunity for associates, undergraduate and graduate students to gain an experiential education and for Northwestern Medicine to benefit from the service, skills and knowledge that undergraduate and graduate students can offer.
These 10-12-week paid summer internships are hosted at our downtown Chicago campus. The IS internship provides an unparalleled experience for select aspiring healthcare IT leaders throughout the Northwestern Medicine system.

Leveraging AI, automation and rollout of advanced cyber controls that support digital transformation strategies
Implementing advanced technologies in clinical and administrative areas
Furthering development of the end user support model to help enhance modern infrastructure
Responsibilities:
Uphold the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Medicine.
Successfully complete projects and work tasks assigned.
Develop a working knowledge of hospital operations to a degree that allows for the successful completion of projects supporting a variety of hospital operations.
Develop working relationships with staff and management that allows for successful business interactions across all levels of the organization.
Participation in activities designed for development of interns during their assignment at Northwestern Medicine; which include:
New Employee Orientation
Networking Opportunities with Senior Leadership
Networking Opportunities with other college internship groups within the Northwestern Medicine hospital system
Professional Workshops
Departmental Presentations led by IS leadership
Completion of Intern Innovation Challenge Project & Individual Presentation
Qualifications
Required:
Candidates must have a High School Diploma or the General Equivalent and have completed at least 2 semesters in an Associates or undergraduate program or 30 credit hours.
The most promising applications demonstrate superior academic performance, leadership skills,and relevant healthcare experience.
Interns project maturity, professionalism, and initiative.
Candidates must be comfortable in complex organizations and display a passion for a career in healthcare IT.
Preferred:
Completion of at least the sophomore year of study.
