Assistant to the Youth Programs Manager

Since 1980, Parkland College's College for Kids (CFK)
has provided area youth with exciting and innovative experiences designed to
ignite a lifelong desire for learning. College for Kids provides the
opportunity for students ages 6-13 years old to explore areas of study and
interest in a non-graded, fun-filled environment through quality, hands-on

classes are held on the main campus of Parkland College.
This position is a
part-time hourly, seasonal appointment with a salary of $14.31.

Program Goals: Summer CFK
programs are designed to attain the following goals:
Provide hands-on explorations in specialized fields such as science, math, language arts, computer science, technology, humanities, and fine arts.

Provide challenging and intellectually stimulating experiences so students are encouraged to pursue their special interests.

Expose students to a learning environment that will motivate them to achieve their highest potential.
Essential Job Functions:
Assist with setting up the Summer Camp workroom, including organizing classroom supplies for dozens of College for Kids classes and DiscoverU camps.

Assist with coordination of staff orientations and implementation of orientation sessions.

Arrange to use various supplies from academic department, coordinate use and return of supplies.

Be responsible for inventorying and distributing classroom keys at the beginning and end of each camp.

Assist with ordering classroom handouts.

Deliver instructor boxes to DiscoverU instructors.

Stock instructor boxes with necessary supplies.

Manage supply inventory and update at the end of the camp season.

Organize medical documentation for students who bring medicine to camp.

Prepare assistant clipboards with necessary camp documents.

Assist with DiscoverU camp student check-ins.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma

Highly motivated and capable of working independently.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.

Excellent communication skills.

A professional attitude and the ability to work well independently and with others.

Ability to work with diverse populations and demonstrate cultural awareness and sensitivity.

Pass a criminal background check with fingerprinting.
In an effort to comply with SURS return-to-work restrictions for employers (40 ILCS 5/15-139.5), candidates for employment at Parkland College must either not be a SURS annuitant or must be willing to suspend his/her SURS annuity upon employment.
