Job Description
SUMMARY
The Horticulture Worker I is responsible for the design, installation, and maintenance of Park District annual and perennial landscape displays including associated structures. The Horticulture Worker I is also responsible for the construction and maintenance of District signage. The typical work week is 7:30 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Friday. However, workweek hours may vary according to weather or seasonal demand. Some overtime hours during peak season are required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 18 years of age with a high school diploma or equivalent
- Education and/or experience in horticulture, landscaping or agriculture preferred
- Demonstrated ability to understand and work from written and oral instructions
- Ability to operate and maintain vehicles, power equipment and hand tools as listed under Essential Functions
- Acquire and maintain a current State of Illinois Pesticide Operator’s License within six months of hire
- Valid Illinois Driver’s License with a clean driving record
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to understand and work from written and oral instructions
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and implement assigned tasks
- Positive CAN-DO team attitude
