Senior Policy Fellow

Chapin Hall is seeking an experienced Senior Policy Fellow who will work collaboratively with Chapin Hall policy and research staff to advance and translate evidence, integrate a focus on well-being into public system decision-making, and support implementation of these efforts toward improved well-being outcomes for children and families, as well as overcoming racial inequities. The successful candidate will lead collaborations with public and private decision makers to establish new or meaningfully improve existing policies, programs, and practices; establish or inform system innovations and reforms; enhance the capacity of public systems and private providers to promote child, family, and community well-being and advance race equity; and introduce methods of operationalizing research evidence and evaluating outcomes. The successful candidate will also bring a national reputation and demonstrated record in leading similar initiatives alongside local, state, and national policymakers, funders, frontline practitioners, and individuals with lived experience with public systems.
The Senior Policy Fellow will establish themselves as an organizational leader who attracts collaborators and executes work promptly, efficiently, on budget, and with quality. Additionally, this leader will engage a diverse group of partners and collaborators through a range of dissemination formats and outlets, in keeping with organizational priorities. The Senior Policy Fellow will seek and maintain an active, positive role in contributing to management of staff and project teams, organizational culture, and adherence to critical operating compliance protocols and procedures.
A specialty or subspecialty in child welfare systems is preferred, though a background and demonstrated track record of impactful, funded work within/across all of Chapin Hall's impact areas will be considered.
This is a nationwide recruitment with the ability to work remotely. Travel is expected.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops, leads, and oversees a funded portfolio of large policy-relevant interdisciplinary research and implementation projects that utilize cutting-edge methods (e.g., quantitative, qualitative, or mixed research methods; improvement and/or implementation science; policy analysis) in partnership with public agencies, community members, and lived experts.
Oversees the development and execution of detailed project plans, scopes of work, talent deployment, budgets, and high-quality client/project deliverables
Supports translation of research and policy findings into real-world action and takes a strategic role in development of plans to disseminate findings to local, state, and national audiences.
Generates sustainable revenue through developing new business including purposeful responses to requests for proposals, proactively entering into contract opportunities, establishing and maintaining strategic relationships, and proposing innovative extensions of prior work.
Through close engagement with colleagues and Chapin Hall leadership, functions as a critical thought leader to design and advance an organizational agenda that answers pressing policy questions across Chapin Hall's impact areas.
Through active mentoring and by example, contributes to the professional development of early- and mid-career professionals, promoting their growth and ensuring succession.
Represents Chapin Hall and its research and policy agenda.
QUALIFICATIONS
Ph.D. in public policy, social work, developmental or clinical psychology or other relevant field preferred; candidates at the master's level will be considered given a national reputation and demonstrated policy impact.
Longitudinal record of success conceiving, developing, and facilitating the implementation of programs, research, practices, and/or policies that improve outcomes for children, youth, and families.
Track record of success translating empirical research findings into actionable frameworks, as well as evidence of having leveraged policy relevant translational research intended to inform policy, programs, systems, and interventions.
