Position Overview

The Division of Mental Health is seeking to hire a Cook I for the Elgin Mental Health Center located in Elgin, Illinois to prepare and cook on a quantity scale basis for individuals and staff. Assumes responsibility for the section of the meal preparation assigned. Batch cooks according to policies and procedures.

 

Job Responsibilities

  1. Prepares and cooks on a quantity scale basis for individuals and staff of the Elgin Mental Health Center.
  2. Operates standard cooking equipment such as mixing machines, steam cookers, toasters, food choppers, bake ovens, steam kettles.
  3. Assists in the inspection of the kitchen to verify the kitchen is equipped with the necessary supplies and needed food.
  4. Cleans equipment and work area to maintain sanitation, safety and conditions.
  5. Serves as back-up for the food service line with food/batch cook required food items.
  6. Completes all Department of Human Services (DHS) mandatory training requirements and participates in education workshops to maintain profession and competency.
  7. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

 

Work Hours:  10:00am - 6:00pm, Week 1: Mon/Sat off; Week 2: Sun/Fri off; Week 3: Tues/Wed off
