Position Summary:

The Department of English in the College of Arts and Sciences at North Central College invites applications for an ongoing lecturer, which is a non tenure-track appointment, in film & screen studies, to begin Fall 2024. The successful candidate will regularly teach in both in film & screen studies, at the introductory and advanced levels, and in first-year writing, with opportunities to teach beyond this, based on expertise. The film & screen program, housed in the English department, is an interdisciplinary minor. The program offers a popular suite of courses in our general education curriculum, Cardinal Directions.

A Ph.D. or MFA in Film Studies or cognate discipline preferred, with MA considered. Applicants must demonstrate commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring of students. Evidence of effectiveness in teaching first-year writing and in mentoring students’ transition to college will be weighed in a candidate’s favor. A candidate whose work incorporates film theory and its practice is desired but not required.
