Description
This position will provide specialized care for patients requiring Pain Management, will be responsible for day to day clinical management of the Pain Center at DMH and will be responsible to teaching this discipline to medical students and residents. 
 Examples of Duties
I. Teaching 5%
1. Presentation of lectures, seminars, conferences and rounds for residents and students (Years II, III and IV)
2. Participate in Neurology/Neurosurgery grand rounds
3. Participation in the basic science and other didactic curricula for neurology residents
4. Conduct clinical (bedside and otherwise) teaching of pain management to neurology and other housestaff and medical students.
II. Service (Patient Care) 85%
1. Develop and maintain a professional practice in accordance with departmental policy and the University practice plan (SIU Healthcare).
2. Conduct 5 days of outpatient clinics per week exclusively related to pain management, including new and established outpatient visits, injection and interventional procedures and chemodenervation, and other procedures deemed within the providers capability and as credentialed by Decatur Memorial Hospital.
3. In conjunction with SIU and Springfield Pain Clinic in Springfield, develop a multi-disciplinary clinical program for pain management.
4. Develop collaborative clinical and research relationships with other faculty members of the SIU's Neuroscience Institute Decatur, including Neurology and Neurosurgery.
III. Administration 5%

1. Participate in scheduled meetings as a member of the hospital staff at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
2. Serve on university, departmental and hospital committees as needed.
3. Provide day to day clinical management of the Pain Center at Decatur Memorial Hospital, including APPs in pain management.
IV. Research 5%
1. Clinical research studies to include multicenter therapeutic trials and self-inititated studies of pain management.
2. Collaborative research with other SIU clinical faculty.
 Qualifications
1. Sensitive to the needs of underrepresented minority populations.
2. Licensed as a physician in the State of Illinois with interest and special expertise in pain management.
3. Board eligible or board certified in Anesthesiology, Neurology or Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation
