Overview

 

The Senior Director, Business Development is responsible for building outstanding sales & marketing capabilities throughout the organization, which enhance and champion BBG's corporate relationships with the Supplier. Provide the BBG business with strategic short and long-term direction based upon supplier sales, marketing, and corporate strategies. Enhance BBG's position as preferred partner through superior performance and comprehensive activation. Maintain and strengthen the existing alignment of BBG and supplier cultures and drive the performance plan better than the supplier's national average. Establish strength in the supplier/BBG relationship which enables new market expansion opportunities.
Sr. Director for SBD ASPECT leads our fine wine strategy at a corporate level ensuring consistency and uniformity from an above-market and in-market standpoint. Responsible for maintaining and evolving the SBD Playbook for Fine Wine which drives our guiding principles for ASPECT. A true thought partner and SME on the category of Fine Wine with both suppliers and internal associates, including trends & innovation opportunities. Maintains and evolves the critical components of ASPECT including RTM, Portfolio, Dedicated Resources, Account Segmentation, Talent, Training and Education. 

 


Responsibilities

 

Strategic Planning
Develop/implement/execute supplier commercial strategy
Leverage BBG's full suite of capabilities that enable performance
Lead with data and insights to proactively influence the supplier on channel strategies, portfolio gaps, marketing plans
Negotiate and solicit supplier marketing for collaborative opportunities such as product launches, test markets, strategic marketing/consumer research and field-testing. Input towards and communicate BBG strategies and vision to Supplier
Develop materials and Execute trainings across markets that will enhance KPI performance.
Collaborate with the BBG markets and establish a uniform and aligned approach to achieving the mutually agreed upon objectives
Drive expansion of Supplier relationships in new BBG markets
Global Insights
Understanding the legislative environment and how each market goes to market
Constant understanding and evaluation of shopper insights, apply back into the business
On top of emerging industry trends and general consumer packaged goods
Deep understanding of the supplier business by channel, by market, use the insights and convert into value-add action
Understanding consumer purchase intent and motivation, how to consult suppliers to improve brand positioning to meet the changing consumer
The impact of digital marketing, B2B, B2C and champion how we better leverage with our suppliers
National Programming
Develop, implement national focus programs that deliver exponential results based on data/insight
Measure and evaluate to determine how to apply learnings back into the business
Create commercial programming opportunities that lead to action
Ensure BBG delivers the most critical annual supplier commercial priorities
Liaison with National Account teams internally and with supplier to maximize opportunities.
Relationships
Establish deep-rooted networks within the supplier's organization, sales, marketing, strategy, national accounts, digital, HR
Access to the highest levels within the supplier organization; understand the supplier's long-range vision
Comprehension the inner workings of the supplier and how decision-making works
Ability to influence the supplier community
Trusting, transparent, respectful interactions with the BBG market personnel, inner workings of how the markets function
Strong partnerships with the Regional Presidents & EVP's
Effective cross-functional communication
Ensure long-lasting relationships exist at all levels of the BBG & supplier organizations

Financial Acumen
Support the delivery of supplier revenue, gross profit margin objectives; mitigate soft spots with effective action plans
Monitor and manage aged inventory, hold supplier accountable to protect BBG's profitability
Seek BBG's fair share of supplier financial resources to assist our commercial efforts and plan attainment objectives
