JOB TITLE: Network Support Specialist

COMPANY:  Scherer Bros. Lumber Co.

LOCATION:  Brooklyn Park, MN Corporate Office

We are currently looking for a Network Support Specialist to join our team here at Scherer Bros. Lumber Co. In this role, you'll be vital in supporting and securing our network infrastructure. POSITION SUMMARY:  Responsible for assisting the senior network administrator in proactively managing the Scherer Bros Lumber Co. voice and data network to provide a responsive, stable, and secure computing environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Participate in and/or direct the design, installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of network servers and other related hardware/software
Conduct implementation activities for hardware and software with an understanding of well-planned testing methods
Provide network troubleshooting of switches/routers/firewalls/premise wiring
Provide backup support for VOIP phone system
Administer network permissions and security on all appropriate platforms and adhere to requirements for confidentiality
Assist with the development of I/T standards, written procedures, and training materials
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Demonstrate a positive company image in attitude, dialogue, and appearance
This position will occasionally require work hours beyond the normal workday based on the demands of the business.  It has a moderate to high demand for tight deadlines
Gain a general understanding of application software and hardware outside the immediate scope of responsibilities to understand the overall impacts of enhancements and changes and provide backup support if needed
General knowledge of business processes in retail and manufacturing
Promote and practice all safety policies and procedures
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Bachelors, Associate’s, or technical degree from an accredited technical college with 2 or more years of directly related experience and level of responsibility

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Working knowledge of these preferred:

Windows 10/11 desktop
Windows Server administration
SQL Server 2019 administration
Help Desk Software
VMWare Server administration
Microsoft Exchange and Outlook administration
Switch/router hardware and software configuration
Demonstrated ability in verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated organization skills
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a variety of people and teams
Demonstrated ability to work under pressure when resolving end user issues
Demonstrated ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures
Experience in these areas is a plus:

Citrix Server administration
Storage Area Network (SAN) administration (Pure)
Palo Alto Firewall
Email filtering software (Mimecast)
Microsoft Office platform
Epicor BisTrack ERP and Administration
Microsoft SharePoint Administration
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Light lifting required (20 – 30 lbs)
Some heavy lifting on occasion (greater than 30 lbs)
Extensive computer use required
Frequent sitting for long periods of time
ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Majority of work to take place in office (95%)
Exposure to production and yard environment (5%)
Exposure to loud noises
Exposure to dust and other pollutants
Exposure to mechanical equipment in operation
Exposure to temperatures ranging from extreme heat to extreme cold
Travel to and from locations required
LICENSE(S) AND/OR CERTIFICATE(S):
Required:
