The University of Chicago's Department of Pediatrics and the Institute for Population and Precision Health seek a part-time Lecturer. The position is part-time and not benefits eligible.

In collaboration with the course director, the appointee will develop and teach an introductory course covering ethical and legal questions in clinical research and healthcare data. Students will be exposed to a broad range of topics, including hospital decision support tools, electronic health record implementation, privacy and security of healthcare data, genomic testing, and authorship and peer review. The course will be a required course for students in the Master of Science in Precision Health program but may also be open to other students with permission of the instructor. A syllabus from a previous course exists, but the Lecturer has flexibility to implement changes as they see fit with the approval of the program director.

Courses run for nine weeks, with the tenth week for a final project or exam. It is preferable that the course meets in the late afternoon/early evening either 1 or 2 days a week for a total of 3 hours, although the exact day(s)/time(s) will be determined in consultation with the Lecturer. The class is offered in-person on the University's main campus in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Chicago, IL.

Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must have: 1) a minimum of a Master's degree in Informatics, Biomedical Sciences, Ethics or a related field, or an MSN or MD with advanced training in informatics, clinical ethics, or clinical research. PhD in Informatics, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field is preferred; and 2) experience as the primary instructor for a graduate level course.
