Role description
The Solution Architect applies deep pension (Defined Benefits) and benefits admin expertise and an understanding of client priorities to create compelling solutions that bring our value proposition to life and increase our win and renewal rate.
The Solution Architect is client-facing and partners with Sales Executives (SEs) and Account Executives through all stages of the sales process - from discovery and introductory meetings to RFPs, finalist meetings, contracting and hand-off to the implementation team. In addition, the Solution Architect is responsible for staying current on competitors, Defined Benefit trends, compliance developments and Alight capabilities. Solution Architects are also an important source of market feedback - working closely with Alight product owners to inform our roadmap.
Responsibilities:
Defined Benefits administration expertise
Maintain expertise in Defined Benefits admin as well as working knowledge of other Alight capabilities (e.g., Customer Care, Compliance Point Solutions, Financial Wellbeing, and Engagement Services).
Articulate and communicate Defined Benefit value proposition and key differentiators
Collaborate with Delivery Leaders to stay connected to operations and delivery practices and share market insights. Utilize this network to ensure we are bringing the latest insights to the sales process.
Keeps Sale Executives current on Defined Benefit solutions, trends, and legislative and industry changes
Sales process
Assist SEs in the development of prospect sales strategy - have a point of view
Perform discovery and scoping (e.g., identify complexity drivers)
Work with SE and Business leaders to develop scope of solution and determine platform
Provide input to strategic questions related to defining the opportunity
Complete solution workbook and coordinate with Finance and SE on deal model
Tailor materials and demo based on solution, client need and competitive landscape. Create new materials where needed.
Play a lead role in sales meetings, with ability to engage client experts and leaders at the prospect. Lead effective solution demos (e.g., Alight Worklife, employer tools) - bring the solution to life via story-telling and a focus on outcomes vs. a feature/function demo
RFP Support
Review, update, and provide input on RFP responses after initial draft is provided by the proposal team
Create responses for Defined Benefit-related RFP questions where needed
Update scope-related RFP response documents to ensure they match the deal model
Create client-specific Service Schedule
Own Defined Benefit-related follow ups (e.g., questions received from Third-Party Evaluator)
Assist with periodic review of RFP library content - ensure responses are compelling and reflect the latest on our solutions
Product Development
Provide input to product owners - insights and feedback from prospects and Third-Party Evaluators to inform priorities and enhancements.
Coordinate with business leaders and product owners on scope items that may require special development or staffing.
Coordinate with product owners to ensure that latest solution developments are reflected in sales materials and assist with building SA expertise in these areas.
