Job Description

Hybrid position-some telecommuting flexibility, but required to physically be in the Bolingbrook, IL office occasionally/as needed.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  1.  Product Backlog and Requirements Definition: DISCOVER what to create
  • Works diligently to scope product requirements, ensuring that each requirement provides high value and solves customer and industry innovation problems before customers even know they have a need. Defines product specifications and story details including detailed, testable acceptance criteria
  • Along with Product Architect, provides technical hardware and software guidance into critical design options for requirements and effort estimates for implementation including supporting technical details of Interface Control Documents (ICD), Statement of Work (SOW), and/or customer proposals.
  • Has a deep technical understanding of the products you own, how they work and their utilized and related technologies through hands on experience.
  • Backlog management: ensuring bugs and user story backlog are reviewed timely and maintained in priority order (including regression bugs) to ensure compliance to SLA and contract requirements. Bugs and stories are written with clear acceptance criteria and grouped with other features being implemented in same functional area when possible to maximize work efficiency. 
  • Understands and can communicate product vision, strategy, and roadmap for product segment
  • Uses the product actively like a customer to truly understand what additional updates/bug fixes drive value.

 

2. DEVELOP Product Solution

  • Gains agreement and commitment with Agile team on what will be delivered by the end of the iteration and the definition of done.
  • Leads meetings with the Agile development team and explains product requirements, the big picture view including how these requirements impact the customers’ operation and experience. Evaluates tradeoffs in design options with focus on overall software lifecycle cost
  • Elicits questions and provide answers to Agile development team about specific product feature and user story details. Owns responsibility for making and standing by prompt decisions on product requirements consulting with Product Manager when required.
  • Maintains clear and concise Technical Product Documentation
    • Creates and updates technical product /system documentation or InApp tools to define how to use, support and maintain the product for both customers and internal stakeholders
    • Maintain list of supported interfaces for product segment including any exceptions
    • Documents stories and corrected bugs in customer outcome focused release notes and appropriate release checklists.
    • Generates patent related documentation
  • Accountable to ensure delivered products have high built-in quality and proven to meet or exceed defined acceptance criteria. This is accomplished via SLO continuous "heartbeat" monitoring and proper test automation, clear and complete regression test cases as well as independently executed ad hoc validation testing.
  • Attends team iteration demos to observe team progress, provide feedback and close user stories and bugs.
  • Prepares and presents team progress at bi-weekly System Demos showcasing new product features; capturing customer and team feedback through copasetic notetaking to identify product improvements and possibly new ideas and features.
  • Actively collaborates and works with internal stakeholders to provide training material and promote new enhancements so 100% of customers are aware of release contents.
  • Collaborates with functional manager to provide feedback on team performance.

 

3. Measure Team Effectiveness

    • Monitor and measure team compliance with SEV defect, 8D and high priority bug SLAs including a relentless view on improving product quality
    • Set stretch goals and measurement methods to drive team to high levels of attainment
    • Maximize effectiveness and measure success through independent initiative and achievement of team PI objectives (both development team and product management teams)
    • Measure performance to overall Wi-Tronix product KPIs and to defined product SLI/SLO/SLA metrics – Is the product working to your expectations?
    • Reflect and take responsibility to learn from failures to drive a culture of continuous improvement
