THE POSITION

Electrical Engineer – Controls Automation, Continental Tire The Americas, LLC, Mt Vernon, IL:

Provide specialized controls troubleshooting support in terms of hardware (IPC’s, PLC's, Drives Systems, etc.) and software (Control Settings, High Level Programming, MES Systems, etc.). Install, integrate, and troubleshoot Continental’s MES systems (CGMS, CSMI, CGRS, etc.). Conduct training for maintenance team and coordinate with the training department on new systems/features implemented on machines. Coordinate, implement, validate, and document the hardware and software changes made to the control systems in accordance with the change management procedure. Coordinate and support local and central project team for machine install projects in all acceptance phases: Installation, Commissioning, PMA (Preliminary Machine Acceptance), and FMA (Final Machine Acceptance) to ensure the new machine meets central’s requirements regarding the functionality and the electrical specifications. Analyze data from machines to find bugs in the PLC software and implement patches to resolve these bugs. Backup, protect, and maintain software of control systems, such as IPCs (Industrial Personal Computers). Create training documents on how the machine functions to support new features implemented at machines for production to train against for current and new operators. Create applications in C# using visual studio to aid with new systems implemented on the shopfloor. Present weekly updates on current projects to team and upper management. Provide 24/7 on call support to the plant as needed.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field, or foreign equivalent, and 2 years of electrical engineering experience in a manufacturing facility.

Must have 2 years of experience in each of the following:

• using TwinCAT 2 to program and troubleshoot PLC programs;
• using Beckhoff TwinSAFE;
• networking (with TCP/IP and EtherCAT protocols); and
• using the Office Software Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).

Must have 1 year of experience in each of the following:

• integrating and troubleshooting Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES);
• OPC communication;
• Visual Studio developing WPF applications in C#;
• analyzing data in SQL;
• using Acronis Backup or similar software;
• using Version Dog or similar software; and
• providing training to colleagues on industrial automation equipment.
