Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Process Development Scientist Group Leader will be responsible for performing multiple tasks within the Process Development group in support of biologics manufacturing process. The Leader will perform a variety of responsibilities in both a team and individual setting. This position is an on-site position and will be leading a team of 3 individual contributors.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Developing and/or improving pharmaceutical (biologics) manufacturing processes
  • Planning experiments, routine analytical measurements operating filtration systems, analyzing data, and writing reports
  • Protein purification process development and improvement
    • (i) Development of scale down models,
    • (ii) Evaluation of new technologies
  • Statistical data evaluation
  • Perform routine maintenance and calibration on critical instrumentation
  • Buffer preparation
  • Operate automated processes including process monitoring
LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBITIES:
  • Supports and monitors performance of team of analysts
  • May participate in new hire interviews
  • Supports the on-boarding process of new employees
  • Participates in training of other employees.
  • Performs peer review of data.

Qualifications

BASIC MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • BS degree in biological or related sciences
  • Experience with large scale-up equipment
  • Understanding of protein separation and protein purification
  • Effective oral and written communications
  • Strong problem-solving skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Ultra Filtration experience
  • Pilot Plant experience
  • Liquid separation experience
  • Preparative Chromatography experience
  • Experience using JPM, Minitab and/or Unicorn software packages
