Job Description

Position Summary: Identify and solve problems in the manufacturing and quality processes. This position will help to develop and implement a visual factory. This position will specialize in assembly operations to support the growth of our business with additional support in machining areas. Associate will utilize RBS/lean principles to solve problems and drive to root cause. Performs work by using some established procedures, independent judgment, and working under limited supervision, performs assigned tasks. Originality or ingenuity is required. Demonstrates a commitment to safety, quality, productivity, cost, and on-time delivery.

Key Accountabilities:
Problem solving is a key aspect of the position which encompasses originality, ingenuity, and detailed data collecting skills, analytical skills, and application of general scientific principles for solutions of problems.
Play a key role in lean manufacturing and productivity improvements
Manage Action Plans (Project Management), maintain projects and prepare detailed written reports on a project, as necessary.
Interact with suppliers/vendors
Guide internal and external Designers/Drafters
Work to solve manufacturing and assembly issues on the shop floor
Make equipment recommendations and lead in writing capital expense justifications.
Identify, design, and implement necessary assembly tooling and custom fixtures.
Evaluate equipment installations and recommend design modification to eliminate machine or system malfunctions
Collaborate with programmers and operators to research tools (cutting tools, tool-holding, and work-holding devices), methodologies and processes in a continuous effort to improve capability, productivity, and quality.
Carries out process improvement, problem resolution, project management and employee training.
Work with the team to develop future state layouts with a visual factory in mind for the ever-changing workforce
Perform root cause-corrective action analysis of production issues utilizing lean and visual concepts to coach and mentor others
Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing operations, to include but not limited to fixturing, tooling, process, and methods.
Develops new processes and implements new equipment. Performs new equipment qualification and validation.
Conducts effective "pre-reviews" of jobs released to the floor and effective "post-reviews" of jobs after completion. Manages this process to assure continuous improvements takes place for cost reductions and quality improvements as jobs are run through the plant.
Identify and solve related manufacturing problems. Responds in a timely manner to manufacturing problems and operates with a sense of urgency when required. Works extra hours when required.
Technical resource for all facets of the facility operations.
Works to develop best routing steps for processes within the facility.
Analyzes and plans work force space requirements, workflow, ergonomics, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
Confers with planning, quality, purchasing, assembly, and design staff concerning product design quality planning, and fixturing to ensure efficient production methods.
Estimates production times and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
Performs time studies to create or improve standard work instructions and manufacturing line balancing.
Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.
Develops, evaluates, improves set up methods and reduces set up times.
Works to reduce all aspects of manufacturing costs. Works to reduce all aspects of manufacturing wastes.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent
A minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing environment
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple parallel projects and schedules
Strong communication skills but written and verbal
Strong computer skills, i.e., Microsoft Office Suite
Knowledge in Solidworks
Knowledge in SAP preferred
Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
Lean manufacturing/continuous improvement experience is preferred
