 Graduate Assistantship Overview
Elmhurst University welcomes applications for a graduate assistantship in athletic administration for the 2024-2025 academic year, which is eligible for renewal for the 2025-2026 academic year. This is a student position. Interested applicants will need to submit an application for admission into a degree-granting graduate program at and be accepted before becoming eligible for consideration for a graduate assistant position that correlates with their area of study.

 

Graduate assistants at Elmhurst University may be hired for a full tuition waiver based on 20 hours of service per week. Graduate assistants will also receive a stipend while they are working, paid bi-weekly, in support of their continued education. Graduate assistants will participate in their assistantships during the Fall and Spring terms at minimum and may be required to participate during January and/or Summer terms.

 

Eligible Graduate Programs: Master of Business Administration, M.A. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology

Weekly Hours: 20

Tuition Waiver: Full
Stipend: $625 monthly, September-May
Terms: Fall, January and Spring

Special Notation: Offers for this position are conditional upon acceptance into one of the above noted graduate programs at Elmhurst University. Graduate students must maintain full-time enrollment in their graduate program in order to maintain a graduate assistantship.

 


Nature of Work

The Graduate assistant for athletic administration assists Elmhurst Athletics in managing its complex and growing operations, contributes to the creation of a positive environment for student-athletes, and is committed to the mission of Division III athletics. 

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS TO APPLICANTS 

Graduate assistants in the athletic department must possess a commitment and responsibility for adhering to all rules and regulations of Elmhurst University, the CCIW, and the NCAA. They must cooperate with and furnish the NCAA, the CCIW, and/or Elmhurst University with truthful and complete information concerning involvement in or knowledge of rules violations. Any person who is found in violation of NCAA regulations shall be subject to disciplinary or correction actions as set forth in the provisions of the NCAA enforcement procedures, including suspension without pay or termination for significant or repeated violations.
Salary Grade
Essential Functions 
 Assists with management of athletic facilities, which may involve, for example, daily walk throughs, communication of required repairs, organizing and basic cleaning of facilities, etc.
Oversees concession operations including, but not limited to purchasing of inventory, pricing structure, cash reconciliation, staffing, and organization.
Oversees the organization of student employees as it pertains to game management duties; this includes ensuring the appropriate number of game day staff members are scheduled.
Assists the Assistant Athletic Director with campus programming.
Assists in game management for all varsity athletic contests and game day management for assigned sports.
Demonstrates a working knowledge of Elmhurst University, NCAA, and CCIW rules and regulations and adheres to NCAA compliance regulations.
Endorses and supports the athletic department's representation within the University's Division of Student Affairs, including participation in Division meetings and committees, as determined by the Director of Athletics.
Collaborates with other University constituencies and participates in their events as determined by the Director of Athletics.
Assists the department with preparation for summer camps.
Other Duties and Responsibilities 
 Performs other duties as assigned.
Supports the mission, vision, and values of Elmhurst University.
Minimum Qualifications 
 Bachelor's degree.
Familiarity with Division III athletics.
Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
Availability to work during athletic events that are scheduled for evenings or weekends on occasion.
Full acceptance into an Elmhurst University graduate program is required.
Preferred Qualifications 
 Leadership experience which required collaboration across offices and/or organizations within a campus context.
Experience leading teams, in any work or volunteer context.
