The Department of Pediatrics at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine seeks a full-time pediatrician and academic at the rank of either Associate Professor or Professor on the non-tenure eligible Clinical-Educator track to serve as the Division Head for the Division of Advanced General Pediatrics and Primary Care. The Division Head in the Division of Advanced General Pediatrics serves a critical role in setting and executing the division's strategic goals in the clinical, research, education, and advocacy domains. We are seeking applicants with interest or experience in health equity, health services research, community engaged research, or implementation science.

The Division of Advanced General Pediatrics and Primary Care
The Division of Advanced General Pediatrics and Primary Care at Lurie Children's offers pediatric primary care services as well as a broad range of pediatric specialties, including a multidisciplinary Wellness and Weight Management program. Our team cares for children from the time of birth through adolescence, specializing in providing care to children with complex medical, behavioral, and social needs. Our experienced, multi-disciplinary team includes board-certified attending physicians in general pediatrics, specialized experts, advanced practice nurses, fellows, and resident physicians. The Division includes 26 faculty, 1 advanced practice nurse, 1 fellow, and 12 administrative staff, supporting over 26,000 patient visits per year.

Members of our division are actively engaged in education, research, and advocacy activities at Lurie Children’s as well as at local, regional, and national levels.

Educating the next generation of pediatricians is central to the mission of the Division. The Division is home to the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine’s Pediatrics Residency program’s continuity clinic experience, with nearly all faculty serving as preceptors. Faculty are consistently recognized by trainees and awarded for their excellence in teaching and mentorship. Additionally, the Division offers a two-year Pediatric Health Services & Population Health Research Fellowship program in which Fellows use rigorous research methods to develop and investigate relevant and interesting questions in pediatric population health.

Researchers in the Division, including five NIH-funded faculty, engage in research projects covering a wide range of topics such as medical education, health care delivery, health care priorities for children with medical complexity, adversity, racism, and inequities in healthcare, the use of digital technology to improve asthma management, and more.

Advocating on behalf of children and pediatricians is a priority for faculty in the Division, who are engaged in advocacy work through the Physician Advocacy Board, the Patrick M. Magoon Institute for Healthy Communities, the Lurie Children’s Government Relations team, the Illinois Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (ICAAP), and nationally through the AAP.
Qualified candidates should be Board certified in Pediatrics with evidence of nationally recognized scholarly productivity and clinical experience. Fellowship training in general academic pediatrics and/or a master’s level degree is preferred. Candidates should have an interest in faculty and fellow mentorship, as a key responsibility is to support division members’ career growth and development. This individual will act as the representative in interactions with Department leadership, hospital and research institute administration, external groups and philanthropic donors. The individual in this role is responsible for oversight of divisional operational, and philanthropic funding in partnership with the Division Administrator. Rank to be commensurate with experience and track record. The position offers a competitive salary and benefits package. &nbsp
