This role will lead the execution of the process hazard analysis program for East Alton, Illinois and Oxford, Mississippi by facilitating all elements of process hazard analysis for applicable change management, 5-year revalidation programs, and initiatives necessary to achieve Olin Winchester's EHS vision.
Process Safety Engineer Essential Functions*:
Facilitate process hazard analysis (PHA) for process changes to ensure they remain current and accurate. This may include reviewing the proposed Management of Change (MOC).
Assemble information needed to support a revalidation PHA, including incident investigations, MOC, and process safety information.
Facilitate the execution of all PHA, including the Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
Develop the final PHA report, lead the management review, and communicate the PHA outputs with employees.
Validate effective closure of PHA recommendations. Monitor, measure, and report status and progress on PHA recommendations.
Coordinate validation of engineering and administrative controls identified in the FMEA, including validation of any applicable mechanical integrity programs for controls.
Ensure effective application of the PHA work process and enable consistency in FMEA failure modes, controls, consequences of failure of engineering and administrative controls, and the qualitative evaluation of impact to safety and health.
Assesses EHS culture through independent observations, develops a cultural improvement strategy, and executes actions within the plan.
Process Safety Engineer Position Requirements*:
Bachelor's degree** in engineering, EHS (Environmental, Health and Safety, or related technical field.
Minimum three years of recent related experience.
Experience in leading/facilitating Process Hazard Analysis and knowledge and understanding of OSHA and PSM (Process Safety Management).
Preferred experience in FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis) methodology.
Requires up to 30% of traveling to different locations and must possess a valid US driver's license.
Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing at all levels of the organization.
Demonstrated program and project leadership.
Comfortable with a high degree of responsibility, initiative, capacity to work independently, and dedication to producing high-quality work products.
Good judgment and a strong ethical framework allowing the individual to make correct decisions instinctively.
This position requires access to ITAR controlled technical data, and as such, employment will be contingent upon the candidate's ability to access ITAR controlled technical data pursuant to an export license approved by the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls, if required.
