Job Description
Our client, a manufacturer for the automotive industry, seeks an experienced buyer.
Responsibilities Include:
- Sourcing of assigned production and prototype materials that may include electronic components, wire, hardware, machined parts, die castings, stampings, injected molded parts, etc.
- Sourcing of assigned nonproduction supplies and services.
- Daily release of PO’s and follow up as required for production items, non-production supplies, and capital expenditures.
- Manage supplier relationship including strategic selection, contract negotiations, and supplier performance evaluations.
- Problem solving as required for assigned commodities as it relates to cost, quality, and delivery that affect internal and external customer satisfaction.
- Initiate and support cross-functional project management initiatives to improve supply chain performance metrics and customer satisfaction.
- Keep abreast of market conditions and how they affect the components purchased.
Requirements:
- Strong communication and negotiating skills.
- Effective problem solving.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate critical information across cross-functional departments.
- Organized, analytical, and detail orientated person willing to accept challenges.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents.
- 3+ years Purchasing or relevant business (Customer Service or Inside Sales) related experience preferred.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business preferred.
