Job Summary

The Lean Performance Systems organization has overall responsibility for the development and deployment of S&C's Lean Performance Systems. Team members in this group provide a variety of services to all S&C organizations including improvement project leadership, coaching, facilitation, training, and subject matter expertise.

The primary contribution of the LPS Facilitator comes from helping leaders and team members achieve improvements in safety, quality, delivery, cost, and human development. While doing so this individual also builds leader and team member problem-solving and coaching capabilities and reinforces S&C values and associated expectations. Other contributions include developing and deploying lean methods and tools and developing standards for same.

Responsibilities:

The LPS Facilitator serves a critical role in the LPS group both by supporting improvement project work as well as facilitating shop floor 5S activities and CI program activities. Through these 2 activities the LPS Facilitator supports Safety, Quality & Stability improvements and builds the trust of Supervisors, Team Leaders and Team Members at S&C Electric.

Project Support:

Support targeted improvement projects in support of a broader improvement strategy through the completion of assigned project tasks.
Support project visualizations & help visualize project status.
Support project reflection activities for future improvements to activity & process.
Stability Improvement:
5S activities
Negotiate with supervisors to support Zone leader development & ensure off-line time.
Train Zone leaders.
Ensure Supervisors have knowledge to support Zone leaders.
Support Zone Leaders in developing area 5S standards.
Track Performance to planned target.
Continuous Improvement Program
Partner with Supervisors and Team Leads to support the program & educate Team Members on the process.
Ensure Supervisors and Team Leads have necessary knowledge to support Continuous Improvement Program.
Visualize and escalate delays to ensure closure.


Track completion rates and days to complete.
Standards
Develop and maintain standards for 5S & CI programs.

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Skills:

Effective written & verbal communication skills
Coach/mentoring/teamwork skills
Consensus building/overcoming resistance to change skills
Strong MS Office skills
Effective small group presentation skills

Education/Experience:

6-8 years of manufacturing experience
2 years successful Team Lead experience
Preferred:
4 year college degree preferred.
Manufacturing or lean improvement supervisory experience.

Major Physical Demands:

Standing: Extensive during time spent on the shop floor
Lifting: Occasional light lifting; infrequent lifting of less than 50 lbs. as parts are moved
Walking: Extensive during time spent on the shop floor


Carrying: Occasional carrying of light objects on the shop floor
Pushing: Occasional pushing of light objects on the shop floor
Pulling: Occasional pulling of light objects on the shop floor
Bending: Occasional bending to study a process on the shop floor
Reaching: Occasional reaching during assembly trials on the shop floor
Handling: Occasional handling of parts and tools on the shop floor
Environment: Frequent use of a computer, keyboard, and mouse. Work may be conducted in a manufacturing and/or office setting.
