Biomedical Equipment Technician II
About the position:
The Biomedical Technician inspects, services, and modifies biomedical equipment and support systems. Inspects, services, and modifies biomedical equipment and support systems. Inspects biomedical equipment systems to determine operational status and compliance with technical standards and specifications. Performs or supervises preventive maintenance tasks such as lubrication; mechanical adjustment; and replacement of filters, tubing, and other parts subject to deterioration. Evaluates user maintenance procedures and ensure safe medical equipment practices are exercised. Instructs and advises personnel in the care and safe, effective use of medical equipment. Calibrates medical equipment according to manufacturers' technical literature, pertinent federal regulations, national standards, state and local laws, and Air Force guidance. Applies electrical, electronic, optical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and physiological principles to diagnose and locate system malfunctions. Uses test equipment, technical data, engineering drawings, schematics, and reference materials for troubleshooting and repair of medical equipment. Performs authorized modifications to biomedical equipment.


Duties/Responsibilities:
Provides technical expertise, recommendations, and written solutions to the Business Development Team to include but not limited to the following:
In addition to BMET level I duties shall include but are not limited to (advanced): Life cycle management, diagnostics, maintenance, and repair of medical and non-medical support equipment (oxygen generating systems, radiographic diagnostics equipment, life support systems, etc.).
Initial inspections, calibrations, diagnostics, general maintenance, and repair of medical and non-medical general support equipment (medical package tools and equipment, i.e., generators, environmental control units, etc.).
Follow original equipment manufacturer guidance, AFI, regulations, and unit direction.
This technician works under immediate supervision and achieves technical guidance, as required, from a higher-level technician or the supervisor.
Work may be reviewed by the Supervisor for general compliance with accepted practices.
Applies basic technical knowledge of electronics principles in determining malfunctions and applies skill in restoring equipment operations.
Performs all other position-related duties as assigned or requested.
Requires a basic understanding of the interrelationships of circuits, planning work schedules, selecting tools and test instruments, and understanding compliance with maintenance instructions and technical directives.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Security Clearance.
Up to 50% percent travel annually.


Required Skills/Abilities:
Four years of field experience in performing and managing: initial inspections, calibrations, diagnostics, maintenance, life cycle management, and repair of medical equipment within Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) guidance, advanced; diagnostics, maintenance, and repair of medical and non-medical support equipment (oxygen generating systems, radiographic diagnostics equipment, advanced life support systems, etc.).
Field experience using Medical Material Information Systems (MMIS).
Application of technical knowledge of electronic principles in determining malfunctions and skill application in restoring equipment systems and operations.
Applicable operations experience.
