The RF Design Engineer will contribute to the design, implementation, and optimization of wireless designs in hearing aids and hearing aid accessories. Must possess technical knowledge, effective communication skills, creativity, and internal drive to design wireless hardware that are recognized as best-in-class in the hearing aid industry. Must have the ability to work both independently and in a group environment. The RF Design Engineer must be able to work well with a team and seek opportunities for continuous improvement. RF Design Engineer II signifies that at least 50% of the new competencies of the next higher career "track" have been achieved.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/RESULTS
Design of wireless hardware for products through the product development process.
Contribute to wireless hardware design, implementation, verification, and release of wireless products.
Testing and troubleshooting of product to characterize the unit and system level RF performance.
Create and execute test plans and test procedures to characterize unit level performance.
Analyze test data and generate test reports.
Track/troubleshoot wireless system bugs in coordination with the project Wireless System Engineer.
Continuous improvement in product and process
Identify and implement improvements in wireless process and testing.
Support transfer of products and product knowledge into manufacturing
Support Test Engineer with integration of product into wireless manufacturing test.
Support Quality Engineering and Manufacturing with wireless issues.
Provide work direction to technicians.
Meet with the technicians periodically to provide guidance on tasks.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education, Certification and Experience Requirements
Education
RF Engineer I: BSEE
RF Engineer II: BSEE +5 yrs. experience or MSEE.
Experience
RF Engineer I: Minimum of 0-1 yrs. experience
RF Engineer II: Minimum of 2-5 yrs. experience or MSEE.
Knowledge / Technical Requirements
Knowledge of RF hardware design concepts (e.g. impedance matching), practices, and procedures required.
Knowledge of antenna design and testing required.
Knowledge of design and test methods for body-loaded consumer electronics desired.
Knowledge of low power circuit design desired.
Knowledge of electro-acoustic and DSP desired.
Knowledge of communication systems and protocol stacks desired.
Knowledge of short-range wireless systems (e.g. Bluetooth, 802.11, UWB, IrDA, Spread-Spectrum) desired.
Competencies, Skills & Abilities
Exposure to the following equipment: oscilloscope, signal generator, network analyzer, spectrum analyzer
Experience using antenna and circuit simulation tools (e.g. Agilent Genesys and Ansys HFSS).
Experience with MATLAB and C++.
Excellent computer skills including the use of Microsoft Office tools.
Familiarity with writing software for test and automation desired.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent Communication skills, both written and verbal.
Must have strong interpersonal communication skills.
Must be able to work in a fast paced, team-oriented environment.
Must be able to adapt positively to a changing environment.
