Position Highlights:
Position: Community Health Equity Liaison/Navigator
Location: 1001 University Place, Evanston, IL
Full Time: Mon-Fri, standard business hours, hybrid
Travel: Yes, may have to travel to different community sites.

What you will do:
Serves as a liaison and advocate for diverse and underrepresented patients and community groups. This includes developing and maintaining strong relationships with community agencies, faith-based institutions, and programs.
Works to develop and refine a vision that encompasses lived experiences within communities to which you are a member and/or connected that is compelling, distinctive, and sustainable.
Participates in research study design as an advocate for community members, ensuring the representation of community voices.
Assists in projects, including, but not limited to data collection, maintaining accurate and complete records, study-related communications, and data management and reporting.
Encourages community involvement in research through outreach and mentorship.
Develops electronic and print media for recruitment and dissemination activities, including web/ social media content.
Develops and conducts trainings and presentations about community-involved health research.

Communications
Employee will perform written, verbal, and electronic communications within the local Endeavor ITM team, with other Endeavor Health departments, with community partners, collaborating researchers, research participants, the general public, and funding institutions.

Customer Service
This position requires customer service-related skills in communications with researchers and potential research participants, including during the recruitment and participant retention components of research.

What you will need:

Minimum Formal Education Required:
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent work experience in community outreach required.

Preferred License and/or Certification:
Community health worker, health coach, patient advocate certification and/or equivalent (preferred)

Preferred Minimum Length and Nature of Experience:
At least one year participating in community-based participatory research projects and/or community-engaged research. (preferred)

Special Knowledge and Skills Required:
This position will be ideal for someone who has a basic understanding of health research, is open about their own experiences navigating health challenges and healthcare systems, enjoys interacting with people, and has a passion for improving healthcare through research.

Identifies as someone who has personally experienced challenging health circumstances, has experience interacting with healthcare systems (preferred).

Is comfortable sharing their personal experiences with healthcare in order to engage community members in health research.

Strong passion, leadership, and interpersonal skills necessary to work effectively with diverse and underrepresented community groups and patient populations.

Ability to effectively engage and motivate individuals and groups to review new information to understand research and clinical trial participation opportunities available to them.

Knowledge of local community health resources (preferred).
