Job Description

 

Federal Signal is hiring for a Credit & Collections Coordinator who will be responsible for managing an assigned account portfolio. Candidates must manage the assigned portfolio to ensure timely collection of past due amounts, assist in the resolution of billing, and customer issues while minimizing of accounts bad debts. This will be accomplished through direct contact with customers on past due amounts, obtaining commitments for payment and working with the customer on billing disputes with the assistance from Sales Team/Project Managers as necessary to ensure prompt resolution.

Key Activities/Responsibilities :

  • Help continuously improve the credit and collection processes to minimize bad debt while maintaining customer satisfaction levels.
  • Contribute to the preparation of monthly collection metrics such as all accounts by business unit with balances over 60+ days past due, reason for being past due and action being taken to collect or resolve a dispute.
  • Identify at-risk customers and recommend account strategies and communication methods to avoid delinquencies and facilitate payment.
  • Pro-actively contact accounts and collect past due balances. Engage Sales on problem accounts. Provide missing invoices, assist in resolution of customer issues, and resolve documents with billing errors. Engage other departments assistance as needed.
  • Resolve disputes related to customer payment on delinquent accounts.
  • Negotiate down payment with customers and Federal Signal Sales to allow customer to purchase above their credit line.
  • Provide A/R update by identifying any major issues impacting collection operations.
  • Perform various collection duties and assignments as required by the Credit & Collections Management.

Skills Required:

  • Bachelor degree in finance or accounting discipline preferred
  • 1 year of proactive accounts receivable and collection experience, or 3-5 years of collection experience in a manufacturing environment and demonstrated effectiveness in a similar role
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound collection decisions.
  • Familiarity with collection operational procedures including reconciliation of detailed A/R activity.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills with ability to work cross functionally especially with sales force.
  • Customer service oriented/good attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle large work volume and multiple priorities with attention to detail.
  • Ability to resolve customer issues quickly and creatively to improve customer satisfaction in a non-confrontational manner.
  • Knowledge of computers and computer software to operate effectively using Microsoft Excel, Word, & PowerPoint.
  • High value placed on JD Edwards experience.
