Lead Knowledge Analyst - Chemicals (The Boston Consulting Group, Inc. - Chicago, IL) - Manage and process research requests, create written materials for business proposals and internal knowledge capture, and work closely with case teams to provide expertise and analysis to drive insight into specific issues for clients within the Chemicals sector. Specific duties will include: drive development of intellectual property and knowledge assets for Chemicals sector and serve as an active contributor to commercialization efforts for Chemicals; train and manage junior team members, set goals, and provide feedback to support career development; drive development and management of assets, including tools and material related to sector; communicate with senior stakeholders and manage portfolio of projects; collaborate with chemical topic leadership and dedicated experts regarding Chemicals; interact with both local and international case and proposal teams, provide customized knowledge for client work and provide client facing expertise; utilize internal and external information resources to gather, filter, synthesize, package and deliver information to case teams; participate in and manage Chemical internal projects under the guidance of Chemical practice area consultants and topic leaders; serve as a thought partner and content expert to case teams and Chemicals leaders, helping structure and solve complex issues; and review and assess the relevancy of documents in existing chemicals-related knowledge base. Requires a Master's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus two (2) years of experience as a Research Analyst or related occupation responsible for performing research and data analysis, developing and commercializing knowledge assets, and supporting the development of business solutions within the chemicals sector. Specific skills/other requirements (quantitative experience requirement is not applicable to section) – must possess the following: analyzing various aspects of the chemical industry, including supply-demand balance, consumption trends, and process economics; developing tailored models for analyzing the CO2 abatement potentials, cost optimization strategies, profitability analysis, and chemical plant scaling using Alteryx, Excel, and Python; assisting with proposal development, engaging in idea conceptualization, creating key-slides, and cross-checking output; performing comprehensive data collection and analysis on the price, supply/demand, market size, and market share of resins, petrochemical building blocks, and industrial gases; and developing hypotheses together with case teams, creating client-ready slides, and sense checking the output of teams working on chemical cases and proposals. Partial telecommute available. Must report to and reside within commutable distance of the listed BCG office. Domestic/international travel required (up to 20%) based on client/company need.
