Target hiring range for this position will be between $55,128-$60,000 per year. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
Job Summary:
Reporting to the Associate Athletic Director for Human Resources, the Assistant Director of HR will assist with managing all aspects of the employee life cycle for 225+ full-time staff and a high volume of temporary staff, interns and volunteers in a fast-paced and growing Human Resources function.
This position is responsible for providing day-to-day oversight of administrative and operational functions for the Human resources office to support the Department of Athletics and Recreation, inclusive of designated areas and special projects as assigned.
In addition this position will provide support as needed to the athletic business office specifically as it relates to institutional athletic camps/clinics and taxable benefit, and other assigned areas.
This position will provide secondary support for all payroll, compensation, recruiting, benefits and workplace inquiries. Inherent in the position is executing key processes and transactions related to the employee life cycle.

Specific Responsibilities:
Human Resources:
Assists in the hiring processes including coordinating the position management process and review of job descriptions; facilitate posting and recruitment of positions through Central HR and the NCAA, Big Ten and other national employment advertising venues; running search committees, conducting interviews, and participating in job offer processes.
Coordinates and schedules the onboarding of all new staff through university and departmental orientation programs. Coordinates off boarding, processes and conducts exit interviews.
Prepares merit letters and annual contracts in conjunction with the annual performance excellence process.
Serves as employee relations consultant for Athletics & Recreation and operates as a department liaison and Athletics & Recreation representative to central Human Resource Services.
Assists with the management of the annual Performance Excellence process to ensure proper performance expectation and evaluation processes are conducted.
Oversees the day-to-day process of hiring and termination activities for temporary and student workforce ensures compliance with USCIS Form I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification; handles payroll activities; ensures timecards are completed and approved by established deadlines.
Provides assistance to staff on issues related to payroll, compensation, recruiting, benefits, and other workplace inquiries.
Oversees annual staff Conflict of Interest disclosure and Outside Income reporting.
Maintains personnel files, department organizational chart, staff lists and directories.
Business Office:
Assists with financial reporting, including but not limited to; the Equality in Athletic Disclosure Act (EADA) Report, NCAA financial reports and department audits.
Assist with the administration of all sports camps/clinics and local sports clubs, tournaments and any other athletic events that are not part of the usual varsity, intramural, or University club sport scheduling.
Assists with designated Business Office areas including, but not limited to:
General:
Responsible for adhering to all Department and University policies and procedure, as well as the rules, regulations, bylaws and interpretations of the Big Ten Conference and the NCAA.
Responsible for adhering to all Department and University continuing education initiatives and required certifications and trainings.
Miscellaneous
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Successful complete of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.

Ability to meet deadlines and work independently.
Must be able to demonstrate initiative and attention to detail.
Strong computer skills, including advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
