Target hiring range for this position will be between $55,128-$60,000 per year. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Associate Athletic Director for Human Resources, the Assistant Director of HR will assist with managing all aspects of the employee life cycle for 225+ full-time staff and a high volume of temporary staff, interns and volunteers in a fast-paced and growing Human Resources function. 

This position is responsible for providing day-to-day oversight of administrative and operational functions for the Human resources office to support the Department of Athletics and Recreation, inclusive of designated areas and special projects as assigned.   

In addition this position will provide support as needed to the athletic business office specifically as it relates to institutional athletic camps/clinics and taxable benefit, and other assigned areas. 

This position will provide secondary support for all payroll, compensation, recruiting, benefits and workplace inquiries. Inherent in the position is executing key processes and transactions related to the employee life cycle. 

*Willingness and ability to work mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Specific Responsibilities:

Human Resources:

  • Assists in the hiring processes including coordinating the position management process and review of job descriptions; ‎facilitate posting and recruitment of positions through Central HR and the NCAA, Big Ten ‎and other national employment advertising venues; running search committees, conducting interviews, and participating in job offer processes.
  • Coordinates and schedules the onboarding of all new staff through university and departmental orientation programs. Coordinates off boarding, processes and conducts exit interviews.
  • Prepares merit letters and annual contracts in conjunction with the annual performance excellence process.
