POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE: Housekeeper
LOCATION/DEPT: Building Maintenance
REPORTS TO: Operations Manager
FLSA CATEGORY: Non-Exempt
STATUS TYPE: RFT

OUTCOMES
Support will be provided for the housekeeper in order to ensure that the functions of this
Position are effectively achieved. This includes providing supplies used in client room
cleaning, bedding and linens, and assistance with ordering supplies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain inventory of linens, cleaning supplies, and supplies distributed to clients. Wash towels and linens as needed. Maintain a clean and orderly storage area.
Clean common areas of the building including the lobby, public bathrooms, employee offices and conference rooms. Clean and disinfect all toilets, urinals, washbasins, tubs and showers. Clean mirrors and countertops. Restock bathroom paper supplies.
Clean and prepare rooms after client discharge in anticipation of new clients.
Provide assistance in ensuring coordinated efforts with other areas, as assigned.
All other duties as assigned.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
This position reports to the Operations Manager.
In contacts related to this position's duties, this individual acts as a representative of the Army and its mission.

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS
This individual will be evaluated on how effectively the outcomes of this position are achieved, as well as the timeliness, accuracy, and completeness of accomplishing assigned goals.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
1-2 years experience in housekeeping.
COMPENTENCIES
Must be able to use cleaning products in a safe fashion.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of or a willingness and aptitude to learn the concepts involved with maintaining the cleanliness of the building.
Demonstrated ability to use initiative and be a self starter.
An attention to detail.
A positive attitude and the ability to be flexible in light of changing job situations/priorities
Supportive of the mission of The Salvation Army.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position is required to do light to moderate physical work.
In order to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, the employee is regularly required to use standard cleaning equipment.
Must be able to lift or move up to 50lbs.
The work environment for this position includes a residential environment with a low to moderate noise level.
Must be able to work with clients that have poor social skills, suffer from mental illness, and have substance abuse problems.
